Our internet provider has just shrinkflated us by 'retiring' the $10 a month reduction we get because our home internet and my phone's data are on the same plan. And in NZ, the data and internet providers treat their existing customers poorly and give discounts and perks to new customers. It doesn't make sense to me.

Re groceries it's not just that you pay the same price for a smaller product, the product itself can change, and usually not for the better. If you notice that your favorite chocolate bar or mayonnaise doesn't taste the same, check to see if they've swapped expensive ingredients for cheaper ones, or included more water. Last year I bought some cream cheese and chive dip to take to a Christmas party. To my horror, the once thick dip was runny and watery. When this happens, I stop buying the product.

I love cream cheese and chives but what you described sounds yucky. Unfortunately, I think shirinkflation is only going to increase 10x.

I agree. We've seen it happen on heaps of products.

The cream cheese and chives dip used to be popular and was so thick I was going to make it into a ball and stick cranberries and capers on it to make it look like a Christmas decoration. Imagine my surprise when it was all sloppy. Thankfully, I had other things to take as well.

Yup, Cadbury chocolates are the most popular in Australia. It's good stuff. They reduced the size of their family blocks by about 20 grams. Then said how wow they were for reducing the price for all of five minutes. Shrinkflation is a bastard. You love a product and they undermine it with the guise of GREAT NEW PACKAGING SAME GREAT TASTE!

Also less in the packets when it’s loose sweets. And the party packs of smarties went down from 12 per packet to 11 per packet. Same price.

Just wait! They probably go down to 10 per packet.

That wasn’t smart for the Smarties People!!!!!!!

BTY I used to get my mum to buy me a small pack of Smarties every time we did the weekly grocery shop together with me in the top of the trolly.

I was very loud, still am, but I would yell SFarties at the top of my voice, until she put a pack in the trolley for me.

I was such a manipulative child, embarrassment was key.

I had that worked out at 2.

I was indeed a very rude, spoiled child who was quite indulged.`

You, spoiled? Naw, I don’t believe it, lol.

Oh, I was spoiled with love and everything else. My Mum and Dad wanted a girl and I was it. The youngest, and I looked pretty cute too. Very spoiled and indulged. My Mum was the church organist, so I had a pack of little old ladies feeding me life savers and butter scotch lollies in church each Sunday, just to keep me quiet or from singing hymns loudly during sermons. Mum was too busy, and my Dad didn't discipline me enough; he was a pushover. I think I maybe deserved a good smack now and then, to teach me some manners. I was never punished at all. I think I would have turned into a better human being as an adult if I hadn't got away with so much as a toddler, child, and teenager. That said, I had a brilliant childhood, and I can't fault it.

LOL, maybe he lost the “rod” or didn’t know how to use it. I must say you don’t appear to be spoiled to me. :-)

Same. Sam's Business card used to have free shipping and now there is a minimum purchase. I get why but it's so frustrating!

And those minimum purchases can be unreasonable.
