Navigating workplace relationships is skill. As you've highlighted, they are different from personal relationships but can become personal relationships. Being aware of what you want from your career, your values and your boundaries is key. For example, if you are at an organization to learn a skill, don't get drawn into to office politics. Do your job, learn the skill and move on.
