The Mind-blowing Triumph — How I Stayed Alive in an Impossible Situation
Women will do the darnedest things!

I shouldn’t be alive right now. Back when I was much younger, I got married. It seemed like a union that was meant to be…but was it? After nine months, I couldn’t take it anymore. The time had come for me to get out. Doing the impossible would take every bit of strength in my being.
Perseverance
I was determined that I was going to Phoenix. My ex and I were in Dewey at the time, roughly 85 miles from Phoenix. It would take perseverance to ride by horseback the approximate ten miles to ride to Chauncey’s Ranch, where I was going to leave my mare and a foal that was given to me. That’s another story, though. I overcame my scary trip and used the following skills to stay alive.
Determination
Women really do the darndest things, and I was no exception. After leaving the horses at the ranch, it was time to drive…by myself…in a Ford 3/4-ton pickup…with no power steering to my destination in the big city.
I have so many memories of that infamous trip. My arrival point was to go to Dolly’s house (I’ve written about my best friend before) — but one of our supposed friends gave me the wrong address. Cell phones were not in existence at that time, so I had to find a place to live quickly. This involved selling the truck for $150, so I could get a house to live in until Dolly and I could connect. The horror stories of that house; I still have nightmares, but I’ll have to tell you about that at a different time.
Stubborn
Many people have lectured me on this less-than-appealing attribute. But I would never have made it if I didn’t have this. There were other instances where I was a little too stubborn to be good for me.
Positive thinking
Now, by this time, you might think I didn’t have much to give me much incentive to practice positive thinking. But with this and my next skill, I came out well, wouldn’t you say?
A can-do attitude
When I say a can-do attitude, what I mean is I can do whatever I want; the first thing I have to say is, “I CAN.” If you think you will never make it in this unfriendly world, then you won’t.
A spiritual nature
The final skill I used was my spiritual nature. I have always been close to God, and I prayed a lot during those dark days. I have strong memories to this day of the trials and tribulations I had during those times, but I am grateful that He was with me every step of the way.
So, what am I trying to teach you as a reader? Don’t ever give up. Use your God-given skills to carry you through each and every day. You can do it!
