Reality or Bunk - There Won't be SEO in Web3
They say SEO will expire in web3; do you believe it?
Who says there won't be SEO in Web3 in the future? What is SEO anyway? How do people come to that conclusion? Without search engine optimization, websites are in danger of not being discovered by people who need something. SEO in web2 and even web3 is the solution.
What Is SEO
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is improving a website or content to rank higher on search engine results pages (SERPs). SEO in web3 helps to ensure that your content is indexed correctly and visible to potential customers and can help improve your website's visibility, traffic, and, ultimately, conversions. Currently, a copywriter uses various techniques to ensure SEO takes place. But will SEO be needed in web3, or will it go away?
To determine the answer, let's look at the following:
What types of information will web3 need to function with effective SEO?
Some best practices for SEO
Are there existing web3 search engines now?
Which search engines are the best, and
The differences between web2 and web3 SEO.
Will SEO still be needed in web3?
Yes, I think so. But more about that in a bit. SEO is used in web3 now, but it will likely change to a much more modern version. With the increased use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, SEO in web3 will be more tailored to user intent.
This means that web3 SEO will need to be more precise and focus on understanding what the user needs and looking for. In addition, providing relevant content at the right time will become increasingly vital. For example, complex algorithms will be used to determine the exact content a user needs and when they need it.
There will be an increased focus on voice search optimization, semantic search, and personalized content. Additionally, voice search optimization will become more popular. All of these advancements are likely to be used in web3 SEO.
What types of information will web3 need?
SEO experts should stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies to ensure users' needs are met, and content remains relevant. This includes understanding SEO basics, such as keyword research, ranking, and link building. Additionally, copywriters must stay informed on more advanced topics like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and semantic analysis.
Name some of the SEO best practices in Web3.
Understanding how search engine algorithms work, keeping an eye on user behavior and trends, and staying on top of the latest trends in search engine optimization will ensure that content remains relevant and users' needs are met.
Additionally, understanding and taking advantage of SEO in web3 will incorporate multiple methods such as blockchain, immersive content, and natural language processing. Copywrites will need to stay on their toes to stay ahead of the competition and cater to users' needs.
Voice Search
Voice search will become extremely important to you if you are a writer. Voice response search is getting very popular and will continue to do so with SEO in web3.
In their latest algorithm of EEAT, Google has updated their EAT (Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness) quality raters guidelines. Search Engine Land explains EEAT this way, "Double-E-A-T. Yes, Google has added a letter to E-A-T, adding an extra E and going with E-E-A-T. This now stands for experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness." The EEAT topic is a subject that would take a deep dive down the rabbit hole of understanding it, so I won't do it now.
EEAT will prioritize results that consider natural language and context. Voice response offers a more personalized experience for users, allowing them to ask questions directly and receive results tailored to their needs.
Furthermore, voice response is also more user-friendly, as users don't have to spend time typing. For these reasons, voice response is becoming an increasingly important part of SEO best practices in the Web3 arena that every content and copywriter needs to pay attention to.
By the way, did you know you could be plagiarizing if you use generative text AI tools verbatim? I'll share with you what ChatSonic shared with me at the end of this article.
Semantic Research
Semantic research helps writers analyze the meaning of words and phrases better to understand the user's context and intent. The way to think of this involves looking at the usage of words and phrases in different settings and relationships between words, sentences, topics, and concepts.
Copywriters can use several tools to help them with semantic research as a best practice for SEO in web3. Worthy of mention are keyword research tools, semantic analysis tools, content optimization tools, and link-building tools.
Are there search engines specific to web3?
All things considered, there are already web3 search engines operating. When I last checked Google search, there were over 20, so I'll just give you a few. The below information was provided to me by ChatSonic by Writesonic (affiliate link).
"Cyber: Cyber is a knowledge graph-based search engine designed to be more user-centric than traditional search engines. It ranks content dynamically based on user input and provides personalized results tailored to the user's interests and preferences. It is also designed for privacy and does not store user data.
Neeva.XYZ: Neeva.XYZ is a web3 search engine that focuses on user experience and privacy. The search engine is designed to provide users with relevant and personalized results while respecting user privacy. Neeva also has its cryptocurrency, NeevaCoin, which can reward users for sharing their data and insights.
Presearch: Presearch is a decentralized search engine that uses a novel data model to provide more accurate and relevant results than traditional search engines. It is designed to be privacy-focused and to give users control over their data. Additionally, it uses a cryptocurrency reward system to incentivize users to share insights and content.
Kin: Kin is a search engine powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) technology. It is designed to provide users with highly relevant and personalized search results. Which Search Engine is best?
It is difficult to say which web3 search engine is the best. Each search engine has features that aren't the same as others, as each has unique features and advantages. Cyber is excellent for users who want a personalized search experience, while Neeva is great for privacy-focused users. Presearch is a good choice for those looking for a more accurate and relevant search experience while also being able to control their data. Ultimately, the best search engine for you depends on your specific needs.
Differences between web2 and web3 SEO
Web2 SEO focuses on optimizing webpages to increase visibility in conventional search engines, while Web3 SEO considers the context and intent of the user's query. Web3 SEO uses semantic search technology, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing to understand that intent and deliver personalized and relevant search results. Additionally, Web3 SEO also considers Linked Data and how relevant web pages are linked.
Linked Data can help search engines better understand what the user is asking and deliver better and higher-quality results. Linked Data connects data from different sources, such as websites and databases, to create a more comprehensive and meaningful overview of a topic. This is achieved using semantic web technologies, such as Resource Description Framework (RDF) and Web Ontology Language (OWL).
So, what do you think? Do you think there won't be SEO in web3 in the future? To make a reasonable determination, we looked at what SEO is, whether it will be needed in the future, what types of information web3 will need to function with effective SEO and some best practices for SEO.
Based on my research and what I have written above, I believe that SEO is needed in web3 and will continue to be needed for a very long time. In addition, we looked at whether there are existing web3 search engines, touched on which ones listed were the best, and the differences between web2 and web3 SEO. If you disagree with me, I invite you to let me know.
Oh, before I forget. Do you remember what I mentioned above about plagiarism when using generative AI text tools verbatim? According to ChatSonic, you need to give credit to the person (AI tool) it belongs to. That means if you get information from a book, magazine, website, graphics, ChatGPT, and more, you need to cite where you got that information. So, be careful.
